When it comes to chiropractic treatment, there are a whole host of myths and rumours that you might hear. It can sometimes be difficult to know what is true and what is fiction, so keep reading to learn about some of the most common misconceptions, and the truth behind them!

Myth

Chiropractors only treat for back pain.

Fact

Chiropractic care is not just for back pain! Chiropractors study between three and a half to four years to qualify, and are trained to treat a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to neck pain, headaches, and joint pain, as well as several issues related to posture and alignment.

Myth

Chiropractic adjustments hurt.

Fact

While some patients may experience a small level of discomfort during an adjustment, it is usually mild and short-lived. Most patients experience relief during their appointment, and typically continue to enjoy a good level of pain relief after adjustments as well!

Myth

Chiropractors only 'crack' bones.

Fact

Chiropractors use a range of techniques and approaches, such as precise spinal adjustments for correcting misalignments, soft tissue therapy to reduce muscle tension and improve circulation, and targeted stretching exercises to improve flexibility and prevent injuries. By carefully assessing each patient's individual needs, they adapt their approach to address specific issues and support the body's natural ability to heal itself without relying on invasive procedures or medications.

Myth

Chiropractic care is only for adults.

Fact

Children can benefit from chiropractic adjustments just as adults can, and it is extremely beneficial for new-borns and infants. Advantages of chiropractic care for youngsters include improved digestion and sleep, correct spinal alignment, and easing of colic symptoms. It can also support neurological development, promote spinal elongation, and aid their immune system!

Myth

Chiropractic care is expensive and not covered by insurance.

Fact

Many health insurance plans cover chiropractic care, and it is often a cost-effective alternative to medications and surgery for managing pain and mobility issues.
